AGO collections at risk, critics charge May 13, 2009
The Art Gallery of Ontario is putting its collections at risk by targeting its conservation department within gallery-wide layoffs, according to two conservators' associations. The concerns are outlined in two letters sent last month to the AGO's senior management that highlight the termination of four conservators' positions in a department of seven, a 57 per cent cut to the department within an overall AGO staff reduction of less than 5 per cent.
